Our Founder

Donald A. Ferguson, Jr.

Don founded Interconnected Technologies over 15 years ago to provide high value I/T services to small business, home business and residential clients. Using his wealth of business, strategic and technical skills initially honed during 20 years of technical and management positions with IBM, and further developed in service to his clients, Don has established a solid reputation for excellence that clients count on.

After completing his BA in Mathematics at Colorado College and MS in Computer Science at CU Boulder, Don joined IBM in 1981. In his early career, he served as a technical specialist and manager of technical consulting in the IBM marketing group in Denver and San Francisco. He continued his IBM career in Colorado in the IBM Services organization created for large-scale services projects, managing two of largest accounts then in existence. Don achieved certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute in 1995 and became an IBM Executive Project Manager in 1998. This success led him to be named IBM’s Year 2000 Project Manager for the western US and South America, a key leadership position in IBM’s worldwide Year 2000 Readiness project. Before leaving IBM to start Interconnected Technologies, Don headed the IBM Project Management Office to establish project management standards in IBM Global Services, as well as managing the program management office for IBM’s worldwide deployment and implementation of Linux.

Don left IBM to pursue applying his business experience and passion for the productive use of technology to helping small businesses and individuals. During his management career, he never lost his love or skill for deeply technical matters. Don volunteered to build and manage state-of-the-art networks and computing environments for several nonprofit organizations – helping them implement the systems, networks, policies and practices to get the most out of their I/T investment and realize the promise of modern computing in a way few small businesses ever experience.  This work led in a direction he did not expect: the development and refinement of a distinctly "small business" way of doing things that serves his clients, and Interconnected Technologies itself, well.

Don is a fifth generation Coloradan with two grown children, and lives in Broomfield.
